The findings reveal that the compound’s impact on aging is not straightforward; it appears to offer anti-aging advantages when the worms are young, but surprisingly, it has the opposite effect, promoting aging, in worms that are already middle-aged. This age-dependent effect is mediated through a specific set of genetic pathways within the worm, involving genes known as daf-16, dod-6, and sod-3. These genes play crucial roles in the organism’s stress response and longevity. For instance, daf-16 is a key regulator of lifespan, and sod-3 is involved in protecting cells from damage.
